Bathroom Renovation Services in Ontario: Custom Showers, Vanities & Waterproofing

A bathroom does not have to be large to make a difference. It is the first room many of us use in the morning and the last one at night, so small problems, like a cramped shower, poor lighting or a tub that never seems to dry, are noticed every day. If your bathroom feels dated, cold or hard to use, a well-planned renovation can change that. Proventa Construction provides complete bathroom renovation and remodeling services across Ontario, from the initial layout to the final tile sealing.

Whether you want to refresh a powder room, update an ensuite or turn a master bath into a spa-style retreat, we handle the design, the plumbing, the tile and the finishing ourselves. As a result, you are not chasing separate trades or wondering who is responsible if something goes wrong. We focus on the part that matters most in a bathroom, which is what you cannot see: proper waterproofing, sound framing and code-compliant plumbing and electrical work.

🏘

Showers, Tubs & Spa Features

From walk-in showers with frameless glass to freestanding soaking tubs, we design the part of the bathroom you use most. Spa-style extras, such as steam, body jets and soft lighting, can turn an ordinary routine into something you look forward to.

📜

Vanities, Storage & Tile Work

Good storage keeps a bathroom calm and uncluttered. We help you choose vanities, mirrors, countertops and tile that suit your style, then install them with the precision that makes a finished room look right.

🏠

Waterproofing & Comfort Systems

Moisture is the main enemy of any bathroom. For that reason, we install complete waterproofing behind the tile, and we can add heated floors, better lighting and quiet ventilation to keep the room comfortable and dry.

🏛

Plumbing, Electrical & Accessibility

We handle new supply lines, drains, outlets and safety features, including barrier-free showers and grab bars. If your project involves structural changes or moved plumbing, we also take care of drawings and permits.

What Our Bathroom Renovations Include

Every bathroom is different, but these are the services homeowners ask for most often.

Custom Walk-In Showers

Frameless glass enclosures, linear drains, built-in niches, bench seating and multi-head rain systems. A shower that is planned around your space is more comfortable and far easier to clean.

Freestanding Bathtubs

A soaking tub can become the centrepiece of a larger bathroom. We make sure the floor can support the weight and that the plumbing is placed correctly.

Spa-Inspired Upgrades

Body jets, steam shower conversions and mood lighting add a touch of luxury. They need careful planning for ventilation and waterproofing, which is where an experienced contractor matters.

Vanities & Custom Cabinets

Choose wall-mounted or freestanding vanities, with mirrors and cabinetry designed around the way your household uses the room.

Quartz & Stone Countertops

Quartz and granite resist stains and stand up well to daily use. We pair them with undermount sinks for a clean look that is simple to wipe down.

Precision Tile Installation

Ceramic, porcelain, marble and mosaic tiles for floors, feature walls and shower surrounds. Straight lines, even grout and well-planned patterns make the difference between average and excellent.

Advanced Waterproofing

We waterproof the subfloor and shower walls with a complete membrane system. Done right, it protects your home from mould and moisture damage for many years.

Heated Flooring Systems

Electric radiant floor heating with a programmable thermostat takes the chill off tile on cold Ontario mornings, and it costs little to run.

Lighting & Ventilation

Recessed LED lights, vanity task lighting, accent strips and a quiet, efficient exhaust fan. Good ventilation also helps keep moisture from building up.

Plumbing & Electrical Work

Rough-in plumbing upgrades, new supply line routing, drain installation and code-compliant outlets, all done and inspected where required.

Accessibility Renovations

Barrier-free roll-in showers, curbless entries, grab bars and comfort-height toilets. These upgrades make a bathroom safer for seniors and family members with limited mobility.

Basement & Additional Bathrooms

We add new bathrooms in basements and additions, including rough-in work and the drawings needed for a permit.

How We Run a Bathroom Renovation

A bathroom project has many small steps that depend on each other. Here is how we keep them in order.

1. Consultation & Measurements

We visit your home, look at what works and what does not, and measure the space carefully. We also discuss your budget at this stage so the design stays realistic.

2. Design & Material Selection

We plan the layout, then help you choose fixtures, tile, vanity and finishes. If walls or plumbing are moving, our team prepares the architectural drawings and permit application as well.

3. Pricing & Scheduling

You receive a written scope of work, pricing and timeline before work starts. Because some fixtures and custom glass take time to arrive, we order them early.

4. Demolition, Rough-In & Waterproofing

After demolition, we handle framing, plumbing and electrical rough-ins. Waterproofing is installed next and checked before any tile goes up.

5. Tile, Finishing & Clean-Up

Finally, we install tile, fixtures, vanity, glass and lighting. A detailed walkthrough and a thorough clean-up finish the job.

What Affects the Cost of a Bathroom Renovation?

Understanding the main cost factors makes it easier to plan a realistic budget.

Size & Layout Changes

Keeping fixtures where they are costs less than relocating a toilet or shower drain. Moving plumbing may also mean opening the floor.

Tile & Material Choices

Large-format and natural stone tiles cost more to buy and to install. Simple patterns can keep the budget down without hurting the look.

Shower & Glass Features

Custom frameless glass, linear drains and rain systems add up. A good design puts the money where you will notice it most.

Hidden Conditions

Old bathrooms sometimes hide rotted subfloors, outdated pipes or past leaks. We recommend setting aside a contingency for these surprises.

Why Choose Proventa Construction for Your Bathroom?

Turnkey Management: We handle the whole project, from layout and material selection to plumbing rough-ins and final tile sealing.
Waterproofing Done Properly: Leaks usually come from what happens behind the walls. We put structural integrity and complete water-sealing first, so your bathroom stays leak-free for years.
Tailored Design & Budgeting: Every solution is matched to your preferences, your space and your financial plan, and we explain where it makes sense to spend more or less.
Part of a Full Construction Team: Since we are also a building construction company, we can handle structural work, new bathrooms and basement conversions. If you are planning a larger update, take a look at our kitchen renovation services too.

Frequently Asked Questions: Bathroom Renovation

Straight answers to the questions homeowners ask us most often.

Timeline, Cost & Permits

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

A standard bathroom often takes a few weeks once work begins, although a larger ensuite or a project with layout changes takes longer. Waterproofing and tile also need time to cure, so rushing is not a good idea. We give you a schedule before we start.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost?

It depends on the size of the room, the materials you choose and how much plumbing or structural work is needed. A cosmetic update costs far less than a full remodel with a custom shower. After we see your bathroom and learn what you want, we can give you a realistic estimate.

Do I need a permit to renovate my bathroom?

Not always. Replacing fixtures and finishes in the same layout may not need a building permit. However, moving plumbing, altering walls or adding a new bathroom often does, and electrical work may require an Electrical Safety Authority permit. We check what applies to your project and handle the applications.

Design, Waterproofing & Materials

Why is waterproofing so important in a bathroom?

Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own. Water can pass through them and into the walls and floor, which leads to mould and rot. A proper waterproofing membrane under the tile prevents this, and it is the most important part of the job.

Can I convert my bathtub into a walk-in shower?

Usually, yes. We remove the tub, adjust the plumbing and drain and build a waterproofed shower in its place. It is a popular upgrade, especially for homeowners who rarely take baths or who want an easier-access shower.

Is heated flooring worth it?

For most people, yes. Electric radiant heating makes tile comfortable in winter and warms the room gently. It runs on a programmable thermostat, so it only works when you need it, and it is easiest to install during a renovation while the floor is open.

Which is better for a vanity top, quartz or granite?

Both perform well. Quartz is non-porous and needs no sealing, which suits a damp room. Granite has a natural look but should be sealed periodically. We can show you samples to help you decide.

Accessibility & Living at Home

Can you make my bathroom accessible for a family member?

Yes. Accessible bathrooms can include a curbless, roll-in shower, grab bars with proper wall blocking, a comfort-height toilet and wider doorways where possible. We plan the layout around the person who will use it, so it feels natural instead of clinical.

Can I use my bathroom during the renovation?

No, not the room being renovated. If it is your only bathroom, we can plan the schedule to keep the downtime as short as possible, and we suggest arranging an alternative for the duration of the work.

What happens if you find damage behind the walls?

It happens fairly often in older bathrooms. When it does, we stop, show you what we found and explain the options and costs. Nothing extra goes ahead until you approve it.
